How much does a new website cost?

website design costGood question and the answer can usually depend on who you ask.  We have put together this guide to allow some sort of gauge to the potential cost of your project.  Before we enter the break down we should stress that any new website ventures success is measured on results and achieving your overall objectives.  So lets start with the basic considerations that fundamentally affect a projects cost:

Who is doing the design? A top London designer would charge a fair bit more than a college student designer.

What are the designers overheads? A plush agency used to meals on expenses or  a one man band working out of their bedroom.

What technologies will be used? Will the design be a simple one page flyer or an online shop hosting thousands of products.

What support will be required? Will training be necessary or migration of products from another system or maybe even copy provided by the design house and what about artwork and stock images.

What additional services are required? This can be ongoing costs in SEO or maybe additional changes to the site at regular intervals.

Who will host the site? A website needs hosting space and a bandwidth allowance suitable for the sites needs and possibly email hosting.

Most designers and developers consider the above when pricing a new clients project so as you can see there is huge scope for price variations.  So to cut to the chase and firm up on pricing I can put forward our average price quotes based on the last three years:

Website 1 to 3 pages £450 (Ex VAT)
Includes custom design with on-page optimisation after keyword research and web and email hosting for 1 year.
